Around Ladonia the blackland is at its heaviest. The North Sulphur River has cut a deep channel through the clay and chalk, which is why fossil hunters come to Ladonia. For septic systems, that heavy clay means water sits on top of the ground instead of soaking in.
Many homes here are older farmhouses with conventional tanks that haven’t been pumped in years. Others are newer places on acreage with aerobic systems. Both need attention before the wet season, when saturated clay leaves a struggling system nowhere to go.
We’re a short drive from Ladonia, so routine pumping and aerobic contract visits are easy to schedule.

Ladonia questions
Asked around Ladonia.
Our farmhouse tank hasn’t been pumped in years. Is it too late?
Usually not. Pump it now. Pumping removes the sludge before more of it reaches the drain field. If the field is already failing, you’ll see wet spots, odor or slow drains, and we’ll tell you what we see.
Why does my yard stay soggy over the drain field after rain?
Ladonia’s clay drains very slowly, so a field can stay wet for days after heavy rain. If the wet spot smells of sewage or stays wet in dry weather, the field may be overloaded or failing. Cut back water use and call us to pump the tank and look.
Can you find a septic tank lid I’ve never seen?
Yes. We locate the tank from the house’s sewer line and dig out the lid or cleanout so it can be pumped. Afterward it’s worth marking the spot, or adding a riser, so the next pump-out is easier.
